LANGSIDE COLLEGE B. Patterson (Langside College) and D. Ross (Architect) gave a presentation on the proposed new building at Langside College. This will remain on the same site and be the same size as the existing college but will provide upgraded facilities, including a new sports hall and outdoor facilities. There will be an entrance for pedestrians onto Battlefield Road. The final go ahead in terms of funding should be in the Autumn. The building will take around 2.5 years to finish but the existing college will remain open during that time. There will be an enclosed square with amphitheatre style space which the college will encourage the public to use and the grounds will be landscaped. There will be 24 hour security on site. The existing swimming pool will go as there was no curriculum requirement for it even when community use was taken into account. Although the build will start before the completion of the new ACAD there should not be problems with major deliveries of structural equipment as the heavy work on the ACAD should be complete by then.
The general feeling of those at the meeting was that the proposed building would be an asset both to the college and to the wider community. M.Mc G will write to the council Planning Department expressing our support.
Treasurers Report - G.C reported no additional income has been received and £13.80 had been spent on flowers by way of thanks to the auditor of the accounts.
