Ritchie Minutes of last meeting: Proposed - J-C Valentin, seconded - S. Whitmore Accounts: Proposed - J-C Valentin, seconded - M. McGlashan There was no Councillor present due to meetings at Pollockshaws Burgh Hall regarding the Go-Ape proposal for Pollock Park and Queens Park Church regarding the South Side Festival. No Community Police Officer was present but a report was sent regarding crime figures for the Christmas period and it was noted that thefts had increased significantly. This was due to money and valuables being taken during functions held at Hampden Stadium. Community Council Plans for 2008 To work with Hampden Stadium re development relating to the Commonwealth Games Monitor fly tipping and litter problem in Mount Florida Increase efforts to develop links with the local community, schools and churches Raise funds for a community notice board Parking in Prospecthill Road will be dealt with when the road is widened Meeting Closed Wednesday, May 23

...LANGSIDE COLLEGE B. Patterson (Langside College) and D. Ross (Architect) gave a presentation on the proposed new building at Langside College. This will remain on the same site and be the same size as the existing college but will provide upgraded facilities, including a new sports hall and outdoor facilities.... more »

...Community Safety Services: - Anne Hamilton reported on the role of this new department which has involvement from Police as well as personnel previously working in various council departments. They will deal with graffiti, noise, litter, abandoned cars, fly tipping among others. CSS wants to encourage residents and businesses to report incidents and arrange clean ups. There will be Community Safety Officers deployed in the Linn and Langside area, depending on the need. These people will wear grey uniforms. ...4) Clean Glasgow Community Action Team
Ryan Noble from Clean Glasgow was introduced to the meeting by Jim Scott. A Clean Glasgow leaflet, giving an explanation of the Clean Glasgow Initiative along with a copy of recent articles from the Evening Times - March 12 and March 23, about the initiative, were handed out to the meeting.
Ryan explained that the Clean Glasgow Initiative essentially was about enabling local action by local neighbourhoods on issues such as clean ups, vandalism, dog fouling and correct disposal of rubbish

...) Community Police Report:- PC McNeil reported a slight increase in Youth Disorder. The youths have come in from outlying areas and are congregating around Somerville Drive causing a nuisance. House Breakings have increased, however the person responsible has been caught. An action plan is in force in the Cumming Drive and Stanmore Road areas re vandalism. A new initiative is underway re under age drinkers enticing other to buy alcohol for them... more »
